Quechua KIDS’ SOFTSHELL HIKING JACKET – MH550 Aged 7-15

Our team, made up of parents of young hikers, developed this softshell hiking jacket to ensure a good level of protection for your child on outdoor activities.This walking jacket, with its special components, can withstand all your child’s adventures. Windproof and water-repellent, it protects them from the wind and fine rain as they enjoy the outdoors.

Windproof:

It is very important to protect yourself from the wind, when moving or stationary, because of the wind’s powerful chilling effect. According to the “windchill” model, which measures how the air temperature feels when factoring in the wind and cold: an ambient temperature of 5°C combined with a wind speed of 30km/h will result in a perceived temperature of 0°C. If the air temperature is 0°C and the wind speed is 30km/h, the perceived temperature will be -6°C. The materials used prevent wind chill

Water repellent properties:

The water-repellent feature comes from the application of a treatment that stops water being absorbed by the fabric’s surface.
It “slides” off without being absorbed, as a result the garment remains lightweight, breathable and warm.Please note, this does not mean it is waterproof.
The treatment can be restored to keep its effectiveness.Use sprays that are applied to the outside, rather than additives used when washing the garment, which can damage the product’s breathability.

Microporous membrane:

The membrane is a polyurethane layer sandwiched between the softshell jacket’s inner and outer fabrics. It protects from the wind and therefore ensures that body heat does not escape. This membrane is also breathable: it wicks away water vapour generated by the body through its microscopic pores to the outside of the garment, preventing moisture build-up and keeping you warm and dry!

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL VISION

RECYCLED POLYESTER: By using recycled polyester, no new oil-based resources are used. The waste is recycled into resources that can be used again.

WHY CHOOSE RECYCLED POLYESTER?

By recycling plastic bottles or second-hand textiles to produce our polyester, we have reduced the utilisation of oil-based resources while preserving the quality and performance of the material during your mountain hikes.

WHERE DO OUR SOFTSHELL JACKETS COME FROM?

Created in our international design centre at the foot of Mont Blanc in France, this fleece is then manufactured by our suppliers in Vietnam and Bangladesh.
We collaborate closely with these partners who have real expertise in the manufacture of our fleeces.
Thanks to this relationship of trust with our industrial partners, we can create high-quality technical products.

Our Quechua global design centre is based in Passy, at the foot of Mont-Blanc in Haute Savoie.
This location makes it a real meeting place for our teams (designers, product managers, engineers, etc.) and outdoor sports enthusiasts.
